Best ever results at the County Championships

The Suffolk County Championships finished on a high on Sunday with our 9 and 10 yr old boys Relay & Medley team coming 2nd in both events, the 9 and 10 yr old Girls were 1st in the Free and just piped to 4th in the Medley, the 11 and 12year old boys came 4th for the 2nd year running in both their relays and the 13 and 14 yr old girls were 7th in Medley & 6th in the Free. In the morning sessions all 9 swimmers in the 400m F/c event gained pb's with Maeve, Etholle & Joseph 1st, Jack, Zak, Henry & Thomas 4th and 5th for Ella, 7th for Tess Thomas gained another regional time. Newmarket swimmers finishing on the top 10 in their age group were: Maeve 1st out of 20, Etholle 3rd, Tess 6th & Ella 7th out of 37, Joseph 1st, Jack 4th, Daniel 9th out of 19, Zak 5th out of 20, Henry 4th & Harry 9th out of 17, Thomas 6th out of 21, Jake 4th out of 26 and Nezz in the 15/16 age group came 7th, he was placed 3rd in the 15yr old out of 16 All in all we had 50 Medals, 24 Gold, 11 Silver & 15 Bronze with 137 PB’s The Club finished in 5th position out of 13 Clubs These results are outstanding and everyone at the club should feel very prod, our club President Robert Hicks said, 'WOW and more WOW - I feel very confident that this years results are the BEST ever, for sure nothing comes close to this since my own personal involvement with the club that began in 1989. Everyone involved should feel very proud of this result, it does not come easy and not without tons of effort. All swimmers should be really proud in representing the club. In fact if I cast my mind back to those early days it was deemed very unusual to send swimmers to the counties let alone consider winning any medals. With success you build more success .....AND meet some great people on the way'
