East Regions Championship,Luton

Newmarket & District Swim Club were strongly represented at the East Region Championships in Luton on 28th/29th May. Henry Newell won Gold in the 50 and 100 free and followed up with with Gold in the 200 Backstroke. In an outstanding weekend, he also won silver in the 400 free and bronze in the 100 back and 1500 free. He was also 4th in the 200 free. Henry was 2nd placed boy in his age group and 5th overall in all age groups. Tess Wesley gained a Bronze for her 400m F/c and got into the 100m & 200m F/c final, she was 5th in the 100m and 4th in the & 800m events. She came 14th in her age group and Joint 40th Overall Joseph Bavey gained a Silver in the 100m B/c final and a Bronze in the 200m B/c final. Joint 10th in his age group and a great 27th place overall Ciara Gill-Ryan and Harry Saunders had some good swims recording new pb's. Coach Annette Skeet was delighted with the performances over the weekend and also thanked the parents, officials and support of fellow team members at the event. "As a club we came 10th on the Medal table above clubs like Luton, Basildon and Cambridge." Annette Skeet.
