Lauren Watt wins East Region 800m Open Water Champs

Seven Newmarket swimmers braved the waters of Whitlingham Lake on the 17th of July and competed in the East Region Championships open water events. This is a non-wetsuit event so with a water temperature of 19 degrees it was a little different to pool swimming. Alice Theobold, Ciara Gill-Ryan and Gemma Booth swum the Womens 1500m event. Harry Saunders and Thomas Allison swum the Mens 1500m event. Iain Johnston swum the Mens 5000m event. Lauren Watt swum the womens 800m event. Alice finished 3rd in the 20-24 years age group. Gemma Finished 22nd and Ciara 32nd in the 12-16 years age group. Thomas finished 6th and Harry finished 12th in the 12-16 Years age group. Iain finished 3rd in the 50-59 years age group. Lauren finished the 800m event in a time of 11.09.1 winning her age group and placing 1st of all the women in the East region taking home the trophy for East Region 800m Champion.
