Masters top at Sudbury

Newmarket & District Swimming Club members were among the medals at the Sudbury Valentines Masters Meet. At an event that incorporated the Suffolk Masters County Championships, Newmarket won the top visiting team trophy. From the 68 individual events, Newmarket swimmers gained 66 Suffolk county championship medals, of which 42 were gold, 16 silver and eight bronze. Personal bests were recorded by Olivia Curtin (100m and 400m freestyle), Peter Winter (50m butterfly), Iain Johnston (50m freestyle and 50m butterfly), Janet Williams (100m backstroke and 100m individual medley), Adam Kemp (50m freestyle) and Reuben Smith (50m and 400m freestyle and 100m individual medley). Lisa Withers, Ashley Buck (top male swimmer award), Sarah Lingard, Sophie Bellwood, Ben Hicks, Jane Smith and Alice Theobald completed the Newmarket line-up, and were ably managed by Abby Vine and supported by officials Paul Hood, Chris Bellwood and Mark Hall.

I think this may be our biggest medal haul to date, 90 in total after a truly great weekend at the Milton Keynes Open Meet
