Newmarket Masters National Long Course Success

Three of Newmarket’s Swimming Club Masters competed for Team Anglia at British Swimming’s National Long Course Masters & Senior Meet. This is the first of two national masters’ events in the year. This one is swum in a 50 metre pool and this year was held at Sheffield Ponds Forge International Venue. All three swimmers had a very successful meet with the highlight being Livvii Curtin gaining her first nationals masters medals. She got a bronze in both the 100m Butterfly and 400m Freestyle. Both these races plus the 50m Butterfly were lifetime personal bests for her. Janet Williams who has returned to the pool gained 1 Personal Best in the 50m Backstroke and also a Silver and Bronze medal in two relay team events. Ashley Buck also competed and gained 2 Golds, 2 Silvers & 2 Bronzes. The 2 Golds & a Silver came as part of a relay teams and the other Silver came in the 100m Backstroke, with 2 Bronzes in the 50m Backstroke & 200m Freestyle. Ashley also achieved 2 personal bests in the 50m Breaststroke and 100m Freestyle.
