Buck made waves as he stormed home with 3 Gold’s, 2 Regional records and 1 personal
best to set the bar high for Newmarket Swimming Clubs Master's Squad.
On a hot October day Newmarket went to battle it out in the East Region Swimming
Championships held at their home Pool on Exning Road and made their mark with a total
of 6 Gold, 14 Silver and 5 Bronze medals.
With Ashley's record breaking day came good
fortune for the Newmarket team as Jane Smith, looking good throughout, took 1 Gold,
3 Silvers and 2 personal best times (pb), Olivia Curtin looked strong in her races
bringing home 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronzes, Josh Hall joining in the fun and having
issues with his goggles in his 50m freestyle brought home 4 Silvers, 1 Bronze and
5 brilliant pb's, Phillip Gilbey closing the Gold medal tally with a win and a pb
in his 50m
backstroke whilst taking a bronze in 50m breaststroke, Mark Hall showing
promising results as he turned in 2 Silvers, a Bronze and 2 pb's, Peter Winter, showing
determination throughout the day to match his rivals, brought home 4 Silvers and
Jess Nelson, who narrowly missed out on the medal haul, set some good times to start
her season.
Once again Newmarket was followed by it's dedicated Officials and would
like to say thank you to Paul and Sylvia Bowman for their assistance on the day.
With
the Nationals all set for the end of October, Newmarket Masters will
travel to Sheffield
with Ashley, Olivia, Phillip, Josh, Jessica, Jane and Peter to do battle with the
best the country can offer
