Success for Club Swimmers at April Open Meet

Newmarket & District Swimming Club hosted yet another very successful Open Meet on 18th & 19th April The weekend was a very busy time for all swimmers and our large band of willing helpers. We had 27 visiting Clubs and over 2500 swims taking place over the weekend. The Top visiting Club was West Norfolk; Joseph Wells from West Norfolk took Top Boy while Etholle Marks for Newmarket took Top Girl. In the Skins event Zack Campbell-Maughan won the male Skins for West Norfolk and Emma Lees the female Skins for West Suffolk. Our 10yr old girls, Etholle Marks, Tess Wesley, Ella McClarey and Maeve Pooley had some great close races, Maeve finished with 7 PB’s, 2 Gold, 1 silver and 2 Bronze medals, Etholle had 11 PB’s and 4 Gold, 3 Silver and 3 Bronze, Ella had 7 PB’s 1 Gold, 2 Silver & 2 Bronze and Tess had 5 PB’s, 2 Gold, 2 Silver & 1 Bronze. Joseph Bavey age 9 came away with 6 PB’s and 9 medals 8 of which were Gold and the other one Silver. Jack Saunders also 9 picked up a Bronze. Zak Baldwin aged 10 came away with 6 PB’s 1 Gold & 3 Silver medals, Harry Saunders and Ciara Gill-Ryan both 12 came away with Harry 3 PB’s & 2 Bronze medals while Ciara gained 2 PB’s, 2 Silver & 1 Bronze Medal. Thomas Allison age 13 got 3 PB’s, 2 Gold & 1 Silver Medal while Charlie Davis age 14 got 7 PB’s & 3 Gold medals, lastly Ignacio Larghero age 15 had 5 PB’s and 5 Gold’s and came 2nd in the Skins event which was a great achievement. Other Newmarket swimmers also picking up PB’s were Alex Millard, Charlotte Young, Terri Dodsworth, Alexandra & Charlotte Rice, Fred Kirk, Lydia Brussell, Joshua Passey, Gemma Booth, Saffi Axon-Coates, Phillippa Allison, Christian Kielinger and Sophie Hood.
