Newmarket & District Swim Club were out in force for the start of the Suffolk County short course Championships over the weekend of 13th- 14th February.
The rich reward for their hard work was 100 PB’s, 4 Regional times, 1 for Joseph Bavey, Tess Wesley, Harry Saunders & Ignacio Laghero.
Thomas Allison went sub 60 for the first time on his 100m free and Newmarket have not one but two girls qualified for the skins. Lauren Watt & Dannii Rayner.
Zak Baldwin and Jack Saunders had super pbs in the 100 backstroke as did Cameron Beavis.
The improving club were represented 25 times in finals
Joseph Bavey has taken the Suffolk County Record for the 50m B/c in a time of 34.61 bettering it again in the final with 34.31, the holder was Phillip Dowding-Young from Ipswich with a time of 35.19 and it has stood since 01/03/08.
Another Regional time for Joseph came when he added the 200m I/M to the 100m F/c this weekend.
Etholie Marks was in great form as was Ciara Gill-Ryan. Charlie Davis chipped in with a pb in 50 fly. Lauren Watt was outstanding and is on course for a great championships. Tess Wesley is taking chunks off her seed times and is relishing the competition. Jess Rayner had a pb in the 100 IM.
Henry Newell has a knack of pacing well in heats and really producing when it matters, and was rewarded with a 50 back pb.
Lauren Watt was outstanding in the 100 Im and Safiyya Axon-Coates had a pb in the final.
Danni Rayner was superb with a pb in the 100 IM 17 & over final after smashing her 400 Im time on Saturday.
